Workshops at Pinokio

Educational

48 minutes to the premiere – a show made out of nothing

Educational 10+ 90 minutes

What do you do when there are only 48 minutes left until the premiere, yet the show doesn't exist yet? You have to create it! During this workshop, we will transform into a theatre troupe and build a performance from scratch, step by step. We will devise a story, characters, and scenes, and then explore what can be created using movement, words, sound, and the objects we have at hand. Every decision will count, and time will not be on our side. Finally, the moment of the dress rehearsal – and the premiere – will arrive! Will we manage to create a show in 48 minutes? We’ll find out by working together, improvising, and reacting to what unfolds on stage.

Educational

A Different World – Alternative Scenario

Educational 7+ 90 minutes

What would happen if Little Red Riding Hood met Peter Pan, and Sleeping Beauty decided to befriend a dragon? What will come of a meeting between characters from two, three, or even four well-known fairy tales? Can disrupting the established order and mixing storylines lead to new, surprising tales? During the workshop, we will explore what happens when we combine well-known tales in unexpected ways. We will create our own alternative versions of fairy tales, swap characters' roles, subvert familiar tropes, and invent new endings. Since any idea can spark a new story, we will piece them together, expand upon them, and collaboratively craft a tale that has never been told before.

Educational

Assembled from letters – creating stories, poems, and collages from newspaper clippings.

Educational 10+ 90 minutes

What can be created from cut-out words, individual letters, and newspaper clippings? During the workshop, we will play with words, seek out unexpected connections, and arrange them into our own stories and poems. We will use newspaper clippings, photos, headlines, and letters to create collages that tell entirely new stories. We will cut, assemble, rearrange, and experiment, seeing where words found by chance might lead us. This workshop is for those who enjoy creating, surprising others, and looking at language from a completely different perspective.

Acting

Don’t Sleep! – Playing in Impro

Acting 10+ 90 minutes

Improvisation is widely used in theater. It helps gain perspective while bringing out spontaneity and individuality in creators. During the workshops, children participate in games and activities that increase their concentration, reflexes, and freedom of emotional expression. They learn trust and harmonious functioning in a group. The classes unlock creative expression, positively influence emotional and intellectual development, as well as visual-motor and auditory-motor coordination.

Creative

Explorers of Imagination

Creative 7+ 90 minutes

What happens when we try to create an entire world using sound, movement, and a few simple objects? During the workshop, we will spark our imaginations, experiment, and discover that even the simplest idea can become the beginning of an extraordinary story. We will explore how to tell stories without words, how to embody a wide variety of characters, and how to create something together that, just moments ago, existed only in our minds.

Creative

Feather and String: Games from Old Courtyards

Creative 6+ 90 minutes

How did our parents, grandparents, and even their grandparents have fun back when there were no tablets, smartphones, or the Internet? In this workshop, we will embark on a journey back in time to discover games that have delighted generations of children. We will use our imaginations to see what can be conjured up from simple objects. Some of these games are over a hundred years old! We will discover that a feather, a piece of string, or a bit of chalk can provide just as much excitement as the most elaborate gadgets.

Creative

Lights and Shadows

Creative 10+ 90 minutes

What stories can be told using light, shadow, and a handmade character? In this workshop, we will discover the secrets of shadow theatre and explore how to conjure up entire narratives from simple shapes. We will design and craft our own shadow puppets, then use them to create short performance pieces. We will experiment with light, movement, and space as we build scenes and tell stories together.

Educational

News from the hero – a read for social media

Educational 10+ 90 minutes

During the workshop, we will explore what would happen if the characters from the book had their own social media profiles. What would their lives look like on Instagram? What would they post on TikTok? What kind of messages would they send each other? We will do all of this offline, however—using our own hands and no screens. We will create posts, stories, slogans, and collages, incorporating movement, words, and images. Instead of seeking a single, definitive interpretation, we will experiment with contemporary forms of communication. After all, perhaps simply changing the way the story is told is enough to view the text in a slightly different light? Let us know which book you are currently discussing, and we will prepare a workshop inspired by the chosen title.

Creative

Self-published. Imagination in print – making artzines.

Creative 7+ 90 minutes

How do you turn your own ideas, research, and worldview into a small, handmade publication? During the workshop, we will explore the DIY ethos and create our own artzines—small-format, original publications. We will begin with exercises designed to spark the imagination and help generate original ideas. Next, we will move on to designing and creating art zines. We will experiment with imagery, words, and various forms of artistic expression. Each participant will create a publication sharing what interests or inspires them, or what holds personal significance.

Creative

Sock Muppets

Creative 8+ 90 minutes

How do you give an ordinary sock a name and a personality, and bring it to life on stage? In this workshop, we will create our own Muppet-style puppets from scratch and then learn to animate them using movement, gesture, and voice. We will experiment with puppetry techniques, invent personalities for our characters, and craft extraordinary stories for them. Finally, our characters will meet on stage in short, improvised scenes. We will discover how a simple object can transform into a character with its own unique personality and backstory.

Creative

The Other Self

Creative 5+ 90 minutes

During the workshop, we will take on the roles of set designers, artists, and actors. We will design and create our own masks, and then use them for group play and animation. This is an encounter with the visual arts, theater, and imagination—an experience where there is no single right way to create. We will experiment, invent, and see where our own ideas take us.

Acting

What a look you have on your face!

Acting 7+ 90 minutes

Pantomime exercises and tasks stimulate children's imagination, develop creativity, and strengthen concentration, while teaching through practical examples what body language actually is. Can we express emotions through it? Does a gesture have sufficient power to replace a word? Workshops conducted by actresses from Pinokio Theatre in Łódź guarantee plenty of movement and even more fantastic fun.

Educational

What happened here? – reconstructing the story based on objects and traces

Educational 10+ 90 minutes

What can be gleaned from an abandoned object, a mark on the floor, or something found in a completely unexpected place? During the workshop, we will step into the shoes of detectives and try to reconstruct the story of what happened before we arrived. We will closely examine the traces, look for clues, piece together the facts, and formulate our own hypotheses. Every detail could prove significant, and a single element might lead to a completely different story. Using the gathered clues, we will attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events and answer the question: what happened here?

Educational

What It Sounds Like – Creating a World Through Sound

Educational 6+ 90 minutes

Can ordinary objects turn into instruments? Can we use rhythm, the voice, and the sounds of our bodies to create the music of the city, the countryside, a holiday, or… outer space? During the workshop, we will experiment with sound and discover music in the world around us. We will use everyday objects to design and craft our own instruments, and we will also explore the wide range of sounds we can create ourselves using our voices, hands, and breath. Finally, we will combine our sounds into a single, shared composition and discover just how much music surrounds us.

Additional Attractions

Theater Tour

No Age Restrictions 90 minutes

We invite you to discover places normally inaccessible to audiences and peek behind the scenes of our Theater. During the guided tour, you will explore the spaces where theater magic is born and hear fascinating stories and anecdotes from stage life.

Our headquarters is located in a revitalized, post-industrial complex of the former “Wigencja” spinning mill – a place with a unique industrial character that today combines the history of Łódź industry with modern artistic and educational activities. It is an exceptional space where the past meets the present.

You will learn, among other things, why actors choose stairs instead of the elevator before a performance, what is hidden under the mysterious name “Peace Room,” and what elements create the unique atmosphere of Pinokio Theater.

This is a unique opportunity to see the theater from a completely different perspective – from behind the scenes.

Touch-tour

Children 6+ Youth Adults and Seniors 90 Minutes

Touch-tour is a unique theatrical experience in the form of a sensory walk that allows you to explore our Theater’s space through touch, sound, and smell.

It is a performative lesson during which participants discover both the history of the place and the daily functioning of the theater. The sensory walk presents nearly 100 years of the building’s history – the former “Wigencja” spinning mill – as well as 80 years of Pinokio Theater’s activity.

By engaging multiple senses, touch-tour allows you to experience theater in a unique and remarkably direct way.
