Burburr. Hug Your Fear

Kira is a little girl. She would like to play, but she is too afraid. She is afraid of the children on the playground, the dog, the kind neighbor, and the monster in the closet. She escapes to her safe place, which protects her.

Kira is afraid of Burburrs. Burburrs are her fears. Sometimes they are tiny, and sometimes they are huge. Sometimes there are many of them, and sometimes they merge into one giant Burburr.

Kira tries to hide from Burburr. She tries to drown him out, she tries to fight him, but Burburr becomes bigger and more frightening. Kira tries to tame Burburr. Taming him helps, and Burburr becomes the girl’s friend. Burburr is no longer scary. He does not stop Kira from playing. Together they experience wonderful adventures.

Contextual workshops for the performance “Burburr. Hug Your Fear”

The workshop, prepared in cooperation with the Łódź Center for Psychotherapy, is an extension of the themes appearing in the performance “Burburr. Hug Your Fear”. Its aim is to help children better understand the emotion of fear and show that it is a natural and necessary part of our lives.

During the meeting, children together with parents and caregivers will examine what fear is, when it appears, and how we can respond to it. Through conversation, simple exercises, and activities engaging the body and imagination, participants will learn practical ways of coping with stress and tension. They will also receive easy-to-use tools for everyday life that can help them calm down in difficult moments. The workshop will also be a space for sharing reflections after the performance – children will be able to talk about their feelings, associations, and experiences related to fear.

Parents will receive a specially prepared catalog devoted to four basic emotions that can be challenging – sadness, fear, anger, and shame. The publication contains brief introductions and a set of exercises and tips that will help talk to children about emotions and support them in coping with them in everyday situations.
