International Festival of Performing Arts for Children and Youth
S·PLOT
5-11 October 2026
A new event showcasing cutting-edge theatre and related art forms, designed to meet the expectations of the younger generation.
Are you a delegate?
Go to the Delegates subpageWe select our repertoire by observing the most important international events – we invite innovative and groundbreaking productions, trendy works, representing a masterful level in their genre.
We seek phenomena that transcend the boundaries of traditionally understood theater – we present a multitude of forms from various countries and cultures. We are not interested in ossified artifacts, but in events that provoke participants to action.
We promote art that engages in dialogue with the audience and adapt the form of communication to their needs and expectations: we provide translation into Polish, English, subtitles, audio description, and Polish Sign Language translation.
We address issues that most engage our audience – for the youngest viewers, we offer performances that awaken curiosity about themselves and their surroundings, while we provoke youth to critical reflection and reaction to reality.
We invite children, adolescents, and adults, parents and teachers, viewers, creators, producers, organizers, and academics to discuss the latest theater and related arts, aimed at the youngest and adolescent audiences.
After performances for the youngest audience, we invite you to workshops that enable a creative processing of this experience.
After performances for adolescent audiences, we invite you to discussions that allow for a deeper understanding of this experience.
Three expert groups: children’s, youth, and senior, meet for deliberations that provide a space for dialogue, exchange of experiences, and creative interpretation of the presented performances.
The conference is organized in cooperation with the Department of Cultural Studies (Faculty of Humanities) at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
Representatives of the City of Łódź Office, the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, and many non-governmental organizations participate in debates on funding, programming, and production of events aimed at children and youth.
We network creators, producers, organizers, and academics working in the field of theater and performing arts aimed at the youngest and adolescent audiences.
This is a new feature on S·PLOT. Creators of performing arts for children and young people are recognizing the growing mental health crisis among the younger generation. They aim to take preventive action, but this requires specific tools—such as workshops and opportunities to exchange information, experiences, and best practices—as well as the involvement of representatives from the cultural and educational sectors and thematic sessions that enhance their operational effectiveness.
We invite you to join us after the staging of the „Rave Lucid” production by the MazelFreten group (French Republic) at the Rave after Rave – an energising music and dance experience set in the post-industrial space of The Pinokio Theatre in Łódź.
Michalski’s set is a journey through the many diverse shades of techno. He blends
the energetic, uncompromising peak time techno rhythm with deep, hypnotising
sounds. Michalski’s selection is precise and deliberate, flawlessly matching the energy of the dance floor.Michalski’s set is a journey through the many diverse shades of techno. All participants of S·PLOT are invited to join us at the conclusion of the Festival held in the Open Dialogue form. The Open Dialogue form stems from the therapeutic method developed in the 1980s in Finland, aimed at rooting the therapeutic process in a context of commonality and sociality. As part of the conclusion, every guest will have a chance to speak freely (no matter their age, gender, nationality or experience in theatre production). We aim to create a safe space and make your perceptions of emotions, deliberations, opinions and proposals more sensitive. Join us to weave together the many threads of the Festival in a conclusion you simply cannot miss!
Facilitators: Eliza Gaust, Barbara Michalska
