Wigencja
Since 2023 we have been operating at H. Sienkiewicza Street 77/75 in Łódź, within the historic walls of the former spinning mill named Wigencja. The history of this place dates back to 1922. At that time, high-quality wool from Andean vicuñas was produced here, hence the name.
Almost a hundred years later, a comprehensive revitalization process of the facility began. The works covered over 4,500 m², and the investment cost exceeded 50 million Polish zlotys.
Moving to the new headquarters has opened up many opportunities for us. We are delighted to weave new threads – of artistic initiatives – into the history of Wigencja.
Pan Tu Nie Stał
Pan tu nie stał is one of the brands that played an important role in redefining Łódź’s contemporary identity and rekindling interest in the aesthetics of the Polish People’s Republic (PRL) and local visual heritage in Poland. At a time when the culture of past decades was often treated solely as an object of nostalgia or irony, the brand showed that Polish design, typography, and everyday language could become a full-fledged element of modern culture and design.
The inspiration for PTNS’s wide range of products included visual culture of the second half of the 20th century, the Polish poster school, illustration, lettering, and the characteristic graphic layout of old publications. The brand translated these references into the contemporary language of products and communication, creating a recognizable style based on humor, local character, and authenticity.
Pan tu nie stał offers clothing for adults and children, accessories, books, and home products.
A significant element of the brand’s activity also remains local production, carried out entirely in Łódź and the Łódź district, making it a symbol of the reconstruction of local creative industries and conscious design based on place, history, and craftsmanship.
Library
A new branch of the Municipal Library in Łódź is also being established in the former boiler room of Wigencja – a space focused on the idea of bibliotherapy and mindful being. It will be a phone-free place, conducive to quiet reflection and building a relationship with literature. Together, we are joining forces to create a space where culture, art, and the written word can intertwine, becoming part of new chapters in the history of this place.
